Annie Marchetta is a classically rooted powerhouse vocalist whose dynamic range and versatility define the band’s signature sound. Originally from New York’s Hudson Valley, Annie has a lifelong background in music and live performance, bringing both technical precision and emotional depth to every stage. Her voice blends a classical foundation with modern power, allowing her to move seamlessly from stripped-down ballads to high-energy rock anthems. For more than 15 years, Annie has been a featured soloist for Ave Maria at weddings and church ceremonies, bringing a sense of artistry and intention to life’s most meaningful moments. After beginning formal vocal training in 2021, she developed an even stronger, more versatile sound with increased power, control, and vocal longevity. Now, as Southgate 40’s lead vocalist, Annie delivers demanding, iconic repertoire with confidence and presence, combining classical technique with contemporary edge to create performances that are both powerful and unforgettable.
Rob Hanson is the lead guitarist and founder of Southgate 40, bringing decades of experience and a signature high‑energy presence to every stage. A Richmond, VA native, Rob picked up his first guitar at age seven and has been performing in bands from Blacksburg to the NC Triangle ever since. Known for his precision and versatility, Rob’s go‑to weapon is the Gibson Les Paul, though fans will occasionally catch him breaking out an Explorer, Stratocaster, or even a double‑neck for the right moment. He’s built a reputation for delivering note‑for‑note accuracy, honoring the original artists while adding his own fire and personality. Rob’s influences read like a who’s‑who of guitar legends — Eddie Van Halen, Neal Schon, Tom Scholz, Billy Gibbons, Joe Walsh, and many more — and their spirit shows in his tone, phrasing, and unmistakable stage energy. As the band’s leader, he drives Southgate 40’s sound with passion, professionalism, and a level of excitement that’s nearly impossible to capture in a still photo.

Keith Dixon is a seasoned multi‑instrumentalist whose versatility anchors Southgate 40’s dynamic sound. A veteran of several regional and touring bands, Keith has performed at weddings, corporate events, festivals, and venues throughout the Southeastern United States, bringing professionalism and musical range to every stage. With Southgate 40, Keith contributes keyboards, acoustic guitar, rhythm guitar, and vocals, seamlessly shifting roles to elevate the band’s arrangements and live energy. His musical influences span iconic storytellers and virtuosos alike, including Billy Joel, Elton John, Jethro Tull, Rush, and Blue Öyster Cult. A native of Saxapahaw, North Carolina, Keith has traded his small‑town barefoot days for the bright lights of the Triangle music scene—though his grounded, good‑humored personality remains unchanged. His musicianship, adaptability, and stage presence make him an essential part of the Southgate 40 lineup.

Influenced by Ringo Starr, Todd Sucherman, Steve Gadd, Taylor Hawkins, Steve Smith, and Dave Weckl, Russ brings steady meter, strong dynamics, and a great ear to every performance. He’s committed to honoring the signature parts of each song while adding his own tasteful interpretation when it fits. Alongside his music career, Russ has spent the last 35 years working as an Oncology RN — a testament to his dedication, discipline, and heart.
Ted Dougherty
Bassist & Vocalist

Ted Dougherty is the bassist and a vocalist with Southgate 40. He began playing guitar at age 11 and has continued to play both guitar and bass throughout his musical life. A versatile musician, Ted is comfortable in a wide range of styles, including rock, jazz, classical, and bluegrass. He studied guitar in college and holds advanced degrees in music performance and theory. Ted also brings a strong vocal background to Southgate 40. Trained as an opera singer, he performed many leading baritone roles in New York. Today, he teaches voice lessons full time while bringing his vocal experience to the band. In recent years, Ted has expanded his instrumental palette by taking up the banjo, exploring both clawhammer and three-finger styles. His broad musical experience, formal training, and curiosity across genres bring versatility, depth, and a lifelong love of music to Southgate 40.
